Candle Filter

Candle filter is a filter with an advanced filter cloth and a unique control system. Candle filters are an approach for removing fine particles.

Candle filter is suitable for: high content and fine particles, corrosive, toxic and odorous, and other harsh environments, automatic filtration.

Candle Filters are also used for thickening to produce a concentrated flowable slurry by partial removal of the liquid phase as filtrate. This mode of operation is possible since Candle Filters may operate on very short cycle times taking advantage of the high filtration rates whilst the cakes are still thin. One of the features of Candle Filters, when used for thickening, is their clear filtrate since gravity Thickeners, in analogy, produce overflows which always contain a certain amount of fine suspended solids.

Another feature of Candle Filters is the cylindrical shape of the elements that retain the formed cake.

Candle Filters are very well suited for handling flammable, toxic, and corrosive materials since they are autoclaved and designed for hazardous environments when high pressure and safe operation are required.

The Candle Filter consists of three major components:

The vessel

The filtering elements

The cake discharge mechanism

Candle filters provide for thin-cake pressure filtration, cake washing, drying, slurry, and automatic discharge as well as heel filtration in an enclosed pressure vessel.

Candle Filter

Candle filters require frequent maintenance. Because of particle build-up and the resulting reduced flow rates, filters must be cleaned with a soft brush and clean water every 2 weeks.

The service life of candle filters varies, but they should be replaced every 6-12 months.

Candle Filter

Advantages

1) Completely airtight filtration, no leakage, no environmental pollution

2) The structure of the filter element adopts a duplex structure, and the flow rate is large

3) Pulse gas is used for back blowing and slag discharge, and the filter cake is easy to fall off, suitable for viscous materials

4) The operation process can be fully automated

Disadvantages

1)High headroom is required for dismantling the filtering elements.

2)The emptying of the vessel in between cake filtration, washing and drying requires close monitoring of the pressure inside the vessel to ensure that the cake holds on to the candles.

Candle Filters are best selected in the following instances:

1. When minimum floor space for large filtration areas is required.

2. When the liquids are volatile and may not be subjected to vacuum.

3. When there is a risk of environmental hazard from toxic, flammable, or volatile cakes specially secured discharge mechanisms may be incorporated.

4. When high filtrate clarity is required for polishing applications.

5. When handling saturated brines that require elevated temperatures the tank may be steam jacketed.

6. When the cake may be discharged either dry or as a thickened slurry.

Nozzle, diffuser or distributor for water filter

Wedge wire slotted nozzles are used for the retention of granular media in water treatment equipment. These media can be of any type, such as activated carbon, silica sand, ion exchange resins, green sand, MTM, Birm, and pyrolusite, among others.

Due to their application in the food and beverage industry, they are manufactured in type 316 stainless steel. This material has the advantage, compared to plastic nozzles, of being temperature resistant, which allows the sanitization of the equipment by means of steam.

In addition to the retention function, the micro-slotted nozzles provide good drainage and adequate flow distribution, both in equipment working under pressure and in those working by gravity.

The micro-slit through which the fluid flows has a “V” shaped cut, with the most closed part towards the outside of the nozzle. This design prevents clogging.

Stainless steel filter nozzles are used in liquid/solid separation, and their design and quantity will vary depending on the application and flow requirements.

YUBO provides a wide range of industrial water filter nozzles and lateral distributors for water treatment.

We are specializing in the production of Stainless steel filter nozzles and Distributor or Collector systems.

Rotary drum screen--A key to successful wastewater filtration

The rotary drum screen or rotary filter screen is part of the equipment usually found in municipal and industrial water treatment processes. This is the second pre-treatment process used in wastewater treatment plants after screening. It is generally placed upstream of the system, i.e. at the discharge of the pumping station which is in charge of collecting the wastewater to remove suspended solids from raw wastewater.

In addition, the sifter can collect mechanically fine and coarse debris. This way, the waste will not be mixed with mud and will not interfere with the downstream process.

The purpose of the rotary drum filter screen is to sort out various fine and coarse matters. The rotary drum screen ensures a fine screening based on the mesh size.

Basically, all rotary drum screens have similar features:
Compactness
Easy to operate
Screening: a rotary drum screen use for solid/liquid separation. The finer the mesh, the more effective the separation.
Securing the downstream process

Such as the Solid/liquid separation for the food industry:
meat processing factories
slaughterhouses
dairies
fast food
Viticultural and vinicultural effluents,
fish industry
potato processing
canning factories
animal feeding

Or in many activities:
Wastewater pretreatment for municipal and industrial wastewater
Storm overflow collection
Wastewater treatment with high content of solids including fibers, wool, feathers, and films.
Effluents from paper mills
The textile industry like dyeing, bleaching, etc…
The chemical and pharmaceutical industry

Screening and rotary drum screen is a very good idea to test its efficiency on your process.

Crude Prefiltration with Sieve Bend Filter Screen

The sieve bend screen – also called bend screen – comprises a curved screen for filtration. The bend screen provides filtration by guiding the particles along with the curved sieve filter screen.

In some horticultural growing systems applying recirculation, large volumes of rainwater are produced. Particles and fibers flush with the drain water from for example tray- and container fields in strawberry and ornamental horticulture as these crops are still grown on peat or coir. Before collecting the water in a filthy drain silo it is necessary to remove these particles.

A sieve bend screen filter can be placed on top of a silo and separates the floating organic material from the drain water. Without this filtration step, the silo would pollute quickly.

sieve bend screen

Sieve bend screen filters are made in several shapes and sizes.  We are able to manufacture using different kinds of materials and grades depending on your request. Also, special surface treatments are available for your application of the wedge wire screen.

We are capable of manufacturing sieve wedge wire screens in customized dimensions, radii and lengths with skilled engineering and precise production.

Stainless steel Wedge Wire filters are popular in various industries. From filtering for food and beverage companies to removing solids from wastewater, wedge wire filters are diverse in their application.

What Makes Wedge Wire Perfect for Fine Straining and Filtering?

The features of stainless steel wedge wire contribute to their ideal functionality in fine straining and filtering. The design of wedge wire ensures no clogging will occur; giving you an uninterrupted flow. This cuts out downtime and increases production. Likewise, the screens on the wedge wire are welded into ladder-like patterns that make backwashing easy, while also increasing the safety and reliability of the product.

Wedge wire also has a continuous slot opening. This is important because this type of opening dramatically increases the open area that is available. This, in turn, gives a greater access to the water-bearing zone, so more water-based products can be filtered at one time with this type of wire screen.

Koi Pond Filter System

A filter is a critical part of a Koi pond.

Why is it so important? Because for a koi, a pond without a filter is like living in a room with no toilet.

Why do you need a filter for your Koi pond?

Koi spend the entirety of their lives in a pond; and they eat, sleep, and poop there. Imagine if you spent your entire life in 1 room. You would quickly have lots of trash and leftover food and—would need to go to the bathroom.
If you put yourself in a Koi’s position, it is easy to understand why a filter is critical for a pond.
Every Koi pond must have an appropriate filter system so that the Koi can live healthily and comfortably.

Types of filter systems

There are many types of mechanical filtration. Sieve Filter and Rotating Drum Filter are very popular nowadays. They both use 200–300 micron-sized screens to filter water. Any small particles will be captured through this system, and you get crystal clear water.

How to size your filter

It is highly recommended to double the size of your filter for your pond. In other words, if your pond is 1000 gallons, please install a filter that handles 2000 gallons. The size of your filter should ideally be based on the Koi population and how much waste they are expected to produce. But it is not easy to see the waste volume; so just go at least twice as big as your pond size.

Which industries most need filtration technology?

From the food we eat to the water we drink to the oil that powers our cars, most substances we use require some form of filtration. As raw materials are converted to usable goods, solids must be separated from liquids; wastes set aside, and reusable materials recycled.

As economies grow and populations expand, a few industries are fueling the industrial filtration market. Given growing demands, these industries must adapt with increasingly efficient tools—filters.

Here are a few industries' processes that most need filtration technology:

1. WATER TREATMENT

Because so many industries rely on water and must comply with water quality standards, water treatment is one of the most prominent filtration applications.
The clear water must pass through a filtration process, which may include various wedge wire screens and centrifuges that remove sand, dust, bacteria and viruses.

2. CHEMICALS

From disinfectants to fertilizers, nearly every modern chemical requires some type of filtration during its production. The specific process varies by chemical type and manufacturer, but in most cases, particle filtration is a key step. And final products also are filtered—often with a centrifuging process—to comply with regulations and prevent contamination.

3. PHARMACEUTICALS

Common over-the-counter drugs and life-saving medications alike must pass rigorous quality control tests. These tests detect bacteria, viruses, dust, and a host of other particulates that must be removed using a collection of filtration techniques.

4. BIOTECHNOLOGY

Biological processes are harnessed to sustainably produce a wide range of goods, including food, medicine, and fuels. In each of these applications, desired products must be filtered before use.

5. FOOD PROCESSING

The food and beverage industry leverages some of the most widely recognized filtration processes. These processes include the separation of milkfat from dairy products; centrifuging crystallized sugar; washing, separating, and dewatering grains in breweries and distilleries, etc.

So why is filtration important for industrial applications?

1. Protecting Equipment from Ingesting Harmful Contaminants
2. Removing Contaminants to Purify air and gas streams
3. Protecting Personnel and the Work Environment
4. Separating and Isolating Desirable Product from the Air Stream
